These terms govern your use of the Dander mobile application (“the app”, “Dander”). By using Dander, you agree to these terms.

1. The Service

Dander is a walking exploration app that gamifies neighbourhood discovery. You walk, the app tracks your route, clears a fog-of-war map, and reveals points of interest. All core features work offline using your device’s GPS.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Dander. By using the app, you represent that you meet this requirement.

3. Your Account

Dander does not require an account, registration, or login. All your data is stored locally on your device.

4. Subscriptions

4.1 Dander Pro

Dander offers an optional paid subscription (“Dander Pro”) that unlocks additional features. Subscriptions are processed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

4.2 Billing

• Payment is charged to your App Store or Play Store account at confirmation of purchase.
• Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• You can manage or cancel your subscription in your device’s subscription settings.

4.3 Free trial

If offered, a free trial converts to a paid subscription at the end of the trial period unless cancelled.

4.4 Refunds

Refunds are handled by Apple or Google according to their respective refund policies. We do not process payments directly.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the app in a way that endangers yourself or others (e.g. looking at your phone while crossing roads).
• Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract the source code of the app.
• Use automated systems to interact with the app.
• Interfere with the app’s operation or infrastructure.

6. Safety

Dander is designed to enhance walking, not replace awareness of your surroundings. Always prioritise your personal safety:

• Pay attention to traffic, terrain, and other hazards.
• Do not trespass on private property to reach points of interest.
• Zen Mode is designed so you can pocket your phone — use it.
• The app is not a navigation tool. Do not rely on it for directions.

We are not responsible for any injury, damage, or loss that occurs while using the app.

7. Content and Data

7.1 Map data

Points of interest and street data are sourced from OpenStreetMap, a community-maintained open database. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or currency of this data.

7.2 Your data

Your walk history, discoveries, and quiz progress are stored on your device. We do not back up or sync this data. If you uninstall the app or lose your device, this data is permanently lost.

8. Intellectual Property

The Dander app, including its design, code, and branding, is our intellectual property. You may not copy, modify, or distribute the app or its content except as permitted by applicable law.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

The app is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the app will be error-free, uninterrupted, or free of harmful components.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the app.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will reflect any changes. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.

12. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United Kingdom. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Scotland.
